Discussion on Economic Emergency Strategy for COVID-19

In addition to the serious implications for people’s health and healthcare services, coronavirus (COVID-19) has a significant impact on businesses and the economy. Responding to the business impacts of coronavirus (COVID-19), the National Taskforce for Bhutan’s 21st Century Economic Roadmap, together with GNHC Secretariat, deliberated and agreed on a set of recommendations titled under ‘Economic Emergency Strategy’ in its 7th meeting held on Tuesday, March 10th. Recommendations included immediate, short-term and medium-term interventions under coordinated monetary and fiscal stimulus to absorb COVID-19 impact. The recommendations from the National Taskforce were submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office as possible inputs towards the Government’s Economic Contingency Plan.
